How to Use/Getting Started
  • Be sure to use our Search Bar located on the Home Screen. This is the easiest way to pull up relevant recipes based on your cravings! Like a recipe a ton? Then mark it as a “favorite” and you can locate it at any time under the “Favorites” tab.
  • Check out our “What’s New” section on our home screen to see the latest recipes entered into the Recipe Vault.

If a recipe is written a certain way, it’s for a reason! A lot of times, when you are making a recipe “macro-friendly” and lower calorie, there’s some food science involved! We’ve spent hundreds of hours testing different ingredients to get the right textures/consistencies and flavors. For example if a recipe calls for coconut, almond and all-purpose flour, and you use only all-purpose, the recipe won’t come out the same!

For the dessert recipes, we often use a protein and Protein Cookie Butter. We get that Protein Cookie Butter is a speciality product and not everyone will want to purchase that. We’d recommend you get a whey/casein protein at the very least (doesn’t have to be one we recommend ) but we think this will come in handy! Recipes will come out best if you can use the type of protein we recommend (whey blend for some/vegan for others) and the Protein Cookie Butter we suggest. If you don’t have/don’t want to get these, you can make a one for one substitution for basic protein OR check out the exclusive Recipe Vault Community you have access to on Facebook to see what suggestions they are making.

Also one of the features we are SO excited about is our video tutorial. If a recipe has a video tutorial that comes with it, you’ll it next to the favorites button once viewing the recipes. If you follow this and how Zach prepares a recipe, you’re sure to knock things out of the park!

About the Recipes

There are some useful kitchen tools that definitely aren’t required but might make your life a little easier. Check out Zach’s kitchen gadgets all available on Amazon, here!

Also not required but take things to the next level, are Protein Cookie Butter and Flex Proteins. For our dessert/sweeter recipes the macros and flavors and textures are THE BEST because we use incredible macro-friendly ingredients to make them!  If you were just going to get ONE of each, we’d recommend getting Peanut Butter Party Protein Cookie Butter and Flex Vanilla Whey Protein. These are both super versatile and be able to get you pretty far with most of our recipes!

Yes! We offer 15% off all of our protein powders and pre-workouts using code “FDL” at check on ProteinCookieButter.com

We do! Use the search bar to help pull up our Vegan recipes that have that in the title. If you need a recipe changed to accommodate your dietary needs, be sure to jump into our Facebook group and ask if anyone’s made that modification 🙂

Although we think an air fryer is one of the most convenient things EVER, you don’t have to own one! You’re more than welcome to use a conventional oven and/or refer to the exclusive Discord group to look at any other recipe cooking modifications you can make. If you’d like to get the recipe as close to Zach’s version as possible, you can get his air fryer HERE!

Ideally, using an air fryer for the recipes where a recipe is made in the air fryer is recommended just because the actual cooking environment is much different than an oven. BUT, if you need to use the oven, you can. We just can’t promise the exact outcome.

If you do use an over, we’d recommend a higher temp and longer cook time because of the different cooking environment- AKA much bigger space and doesn’t rely on a circulating of air to cook things evenly. It doesn’t get as hot as an air fryer so that’s why cook temps higher and the cook times longer. Air fryers are super efficient and also tends to be a cheat code for not over cooking something. The oven is tricky and a lot of ovens vary a ton in actual temp inside the oven. It might say one temperature but be significantly different. Air fryers are much more accurate and are dummy proof.

If you’re really adamant about using cups/tablespoons you can check out this gram to cup converter here. Or check our exclusive Discord group for help with conversions. Need help using a scale? Check out our YouTube Tutorial here.

Yes but be careful because a blender is way more powerful than a food processor. You might totally blitz what you have and it’s over doing it creating a consistency we don’t want.

Recipe Substitutions?

Feel free to try a bit of sugar free/fat free pudding mix to thicken a recipe up. Other app users have tried guar gum!

So Protein Cookie Butter Powder CAN’T replace the protein-but you can go the other way. For example- if a recipe calls for a whey protein cookie butter, you could use the same amount of a whey protein for a similar (but not exact same) finished product. If a recipe calls for vegan/dairy-free cookie butter, you could use a vegan protein in the same amount.

The vegan versus whey ingredients are an important delineation just because of the amount of liquid that each one would absorb in a recipe. If you don’t have protein or you’re looking to stock up, my recommendation for the ingredients that would get you the farthest are our Whey Slow Churn Vanilla Ice Cream and then a vegan Protein Cookie Butter Powder. This is the combo that Zach probably uses the most and should really help with the quality of the dessert recipes!

So for example in the protein chocolate chip cookie recipe, the original recipe calls for 60g Whey/Casein Blend Vanilla Protein Powder and 40g PB Party PCB.

And PB party is a vegan blend PCB. So you’d need to sub with a vegan protein powder if you wanted to sub with that one because the balance between the whey/casein blend and vegan blend proteins in the recipe help bring as close to an authentic chocolate chip cookie we can get for 44 cals that’s high protein.

There will be issues that come up with flavor being slightly different solely because of time making sure all the Protein Cookie Butter flavors have the most accurate flavor profiles across the board.

You are more than welcome to try to use a whey only protein but results will vary because whey without casein is a thin protein that doesn’t hold onto water. So what this leads to is whatever recipe you have will either come out batter/dough too thin or end product might be too dry.

If you don’t have/don’t want to get these, you can make a one for one substitution for basic protein OR check out the exclusive Inner Circle you have access to on Facebook to see what suggestions they are making.

You can but it’ll require a bit more than what is called for in regards to grams of coconut flour. So just know you’ll probably need to use a bit more almond flour and taste might be a bit nuttier.
